i know it could be a sensitive subject however we were all once firm believers and could have very well let one of our loved ones die due to what we once believed.. and not to be judgemental on what we would have done or did do in the past ,i sometime wonder if any of the parents or even one parent of the children of the may 22nd 1994 magazine of "youths who put god first " have now regretted their decision to let their children make this decision on their own.. after all these years i find it hard to believe that not one of them have no regrets to what happened to their child.. i can also accept that it would be extremely hard to admit that you allowed your child to make a decision to die on a belief you instilled in them that you no longer now believe in.
i think that would be very hard to live with and come to terms with.. if any of you are here my heart goes out to you because you have gone through hell and my thoughts/vibes are with you..
Waking up after refusing a lifesaving blood transfusion for your child doesn't best thinking about. Possibly better to die in ignorance than discover TATT. :(
i never understood why many jehovah’s witnesses will say “the friends”.
it seems so mormon like..
The friends was not an expression we used in UK or Spain. I only heard it used when listening to GB member's talks.
hiya peeps.
in my comedy routine i am keen to add some audio of the worst things jws have said in talks.
tight pants tony.
There is an ancient rant by a long gone GB member about how God will destroy the wicked using anti matter and might be the same one not sure but where he tells the audience the break up of pangea was because of "the flood"!
the sky is so dark here in the south of the uk.
could be armageddon starting.. or then it could be dust particles in the atmosphere..
It was very eerie. Grey sky above white clouds it was dark at 2pm and looked like 7pm. My daughter and I joked that if we were still JWs we might think it was Armageddon. Instead we were able to look up in awe at the sky and marvel at how amazing it looked with no fear of God just knowing it was a weather phenomenon.
not to be overly harsh...but if you just left, what the hell were you thinking?
between 1995 and now, you never did an internet search of "jehovahs-witness" or "watchtower"?
good god.
Sometimes not rocking the boat is the easiest way to live life. Knowing and doubting are different and doubts won't deprive you of your family whereas once you start down the rabbit hole there becomes a point of no going back and just hoping the sacrifices of lost loved ones won't be too great. Fear is a great paralyser of further action.
ok, so hot on the heels of the announcement at the agm, we have been told that there are probably only 12 magazines left!.
yes, there will be only 3 wt each year, and 3 awakes.... and that they will do this for two years, then reprint those issues.... so yes, the "abundance of spiritual food" is limited to 12 more magazines..... surely, this is proof of the end coming so soon!?!
😉.
Their bible, day's text, song book etc are all available in Google Play apps now.
So much for the internet being the devil's tool. :p
I got "counselled" for reading the Bible on my computer screen by an elder as back then apparently "Holy Spirit only comes through books." Glad to see HS is moving with the times. :)
how often did we as witnesses say something like this : "unlike members of false religion, who venerate or worship through statues or idols, we give our focus to jehovah!".
members of religious groups focus their religious adoration via an image or statue.
they do this in order to provide some sort of focus to their need to worship.. witnesses give extreme focus on the name "jehovah" .
In the 90s I put a cut out of a Watchtower in my car window and was told to remove it as it was idolatry. Clearly the definition of idolatry changed some time between then and now.
i did try a search before posting this question and found nothing current.
pew research -2016 says approximately two thirds of those born into the religion in the united states alone, no longer consider themselves as members.
(sorry, still don't know how to link, but it's an easy google search.).
I know personally and online far more exjws than I ever did JWs when still in so it wouldn't surprise me at all if we do outnumber those still in.
for thousands of years some material form of money has been important in daily.
but now, all over the world, there is a move toward a cashless society - a society where out wealth exists in an electronic form.. perhaps, no other country has moved as quickly toward that notion than china.. a report today on china's peoples daily (english) web-site claims that 84% of chinese can now leave home without cash in their wallet/pocket.
as i understand it they will make payments via a smartphone app.. ( see: http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0924/c90000-9273002.html ).
I have a rubber bracelet which I wear to go shopping. To pay for items I just waft this bracelet over their payment machine and I've paid. No scrabbling about for a purse or dropping change everywhere counting it out etc. I love it. :)
